7th Annual Christmas Gala Event – 11/30/18 – 12/2/18

Brooklyn, MI –Oh These Irish Hills will be hosting its 6th Annual Christmas Gala Event Friday, November 30th,  through Sunday, December 2nd at the Fraternal Order of Eagles Irish Hills, 9500 Wamplers Lake Rd., Brooklyn, MI. This event at the “Eagles” and is open to the public.
The Gala includes a silent auction for decorated Christmas trees, wreaths and other decorative holiday items, activities, vote for your favorite tree, daily surprises, a Christmas Dance Party, Stretch and Breathe Away Holiday Stress with Ryan, Wine Glass/Beer Mug Paint & Sip Class, Wine and Food Pairing -“Cuisine with Colleen, Breakfast with Santa & Elf and lots more!
Proceeds benefit OTIH! & the Brooklyn Food Pantry.

A Description of the Daily Activities

Friday, November 30, 2018

  • 4 – 11 pm – Gala Open House hours
    Join us for the viewing of the Christmas Gala’s beautiful transformation of the Irish Hills Eagles’ room and 50/50 raffles throughout the evening. . I.D. 130025, R.L. X96903
  • 5 – 7:30 pm – Eagles Steak ($12.00) or Chicken ($8.00) Dinner
    The dinner includes Steak/Chicken, potato, vegetable, and roll.
  • 5 – 10:30 pm – Mid-Michigan JD, John Smith will be playing the Beatles and 60’s music. Get ready to dance or just enjoy the music – Adult beverages are available for purchase during the evening. A 50/50 raffle will take place. – don’t miss a fun evening.

Saturday, December 1, 2018

  • 10 – 6 pm – Gala Open House hours
    Make this a stop during your Saturday activities. All ages will enjoy the displays of Holiday items and there just might be something you would like to make a bid on.
  • Please register early for these classes – space limited.
  • 10 – 11 am – Start your day with Ryan’s Complimentary Class “Stretch and Breath your Stress Away with Ryan”.
    Open to the public. Bring your own mat or blanket; chairs available for your comfort.

  • 12 – 2:30 pm – Wine Glass/Beer Mug Paint & Sip.

  • 3:00 – 5:00 pm – Wine and Food Pairing by “Cuisine with Colleen” – Colleen Curley is an award-winning private chef. Colleen was the winner of the Sugardale Bacon Competition. She was invited to compete in the World Food Championship of 2016 and was the winner. $25.00 to participate in this exciting event.   • 8 am – 1 pm – Gala Open House hours
    This is the last day to view the wonderful exhibit of Christmas items and to bid in the Silent Auction on Christmas trees, wreaths and decorations.
  • 8 am – Noon – Breakfast at the Eagles ($6.00 – All You Can Eat). Start your day off with a hardy breakfast prepared by the Eagles.
    It includes pancakes, French toast, hash browns, eggs – cooked to order, biscuits and gravy, sausage, toast and coffee. 50/50 raffles
  • 9 am – 12 pm – Breakfast with Santa and Elf Ryan – bring your kids!
  • 1:00 pm – The Silent Auction of Holiday Items will end.

Row, Row, Row, Your Cardboard Boat Race Title

Join us for the 9th Annual – 2018 Row, Row, Your Cardboard Boat Race! Sponsored by: Jerry’s Pub – Restaurant & Marina and ERA – Reardon Realty

  • Where: Jerry’s Pub & Restaurant – Lake Front Wamplers Lake 650 Egan Hwy, Brooklyn
  • When: Sunday, July 22, 2018 at noon.
  • Entry Fee: $5.00

Boats MUST BE REGISTERED no later than 11:30 am on Sunday, July 22, 2018, down on the beach at Jerry’s Pub to be judged and entered in their respective age category.

Cardboard Boat Race Rules:

  1. “Boats” must be constructed using ONLY cardboard and duct tape.
  2. Boats found to have any paint, wax, or other water proofing agents applied will be disqualified.
  3. Boat must be self-propelled using oars of any kind, i.e.: wood, plastic, boards, paddle wheels, etc.
  4. Single handed or crewed entries are allowed and boats may be used only once in each category.
  5. All contestants must wear PDF life jackets. If a contestant is under the age of 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must sign the registration form. 2018 entry fee is $5.00.
  6. There is no rain date.

Clues-a-Palooza Title

Looking for some  weekend  fun with family and friends?

Oh These Irish Hills! is hosting Clues-a-Palooza,  an Irish Hills scavenger hunt.

When: Saturday, June 10, 12:30-5:30 p.m.

Cost: The cost to participate is $40 per vehicle. The maximum number of people per vehicle is six.

Advanced registration advised by 6/3/2017 – You can find the registration and links to flyers and handouts below and also under the Maps | Applications | Downloads link at the top of the page.

Participants will meet at 12:30 p.m. at the Moose Lodge on US-12 (6807 US-12 to receive their clues. The hunt will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m. The hunt will end at the American Legion in Onsted (333 Conner St.) at 4:00 p.m. where participants will enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and 50/50 drawings while the points are tallied.
