This legacy involves area individuals, groups, and organizations in activities that celebrate the beauty of the place, the spirit of its people, and the progression of its history.

Race to Protect the 2nd Oldest Girl Scout Camp in the U.S.

Brooklyn, MI – Sept 6, 2017 – Oh These Irish Hills is pleased to announce that a portion of the proceeds from their “Run for the Hills” 5K, 1 Mile Walk/Run will benefit the Camp O’ the Hills land protection project.

Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan is currently raising money to permanently protect their 105-acre camp, located between the shores of Timber Lake and Wamplers Lake.  GSHOM has partnered with the Legacy Land Conservancy, the oldest local/regional land trust, to forever preserve Camp ‘O the Hills, a camp which holds the distinction of being the 2nd oldest Girl Scout camp in the nation. If successful, a conservation easement will be created which will forever bind the camp’s land use as a camp property, thereby protecting it as a natural resource for current and future generations. The capital campaign to support the project must be fulfilled by December of 2017.

After hearing of this project, Oh These Irish Hills! has decided to help them race against their deadline with our “Run for the Hills” 5K, 1 Mile Walk/Run on September 23rd at Hidden Lake Gardens, 6214 M-50, Tipton, Mi 49287.
